McLaren SLR 722 S Roadster SPecifications
The McLaren SLR 722 S Roadster opens up spectacular dimensions of open-top driving. With 478 kW/ 650 hp output, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 335 km/h, the open-top 2-seater even surpasses the previous benchmark among open-air supercars, the SLR McLaren Roadster.
Both carry a high-speed, fully retractable folding top and are made of carbon. They therefore feature very high safety and extreme torsional rigidity.
In addition to higher performance, the new SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S offers even more dynamic chassis tuning and further improved aerodynamics. Despite the exceptional performance, the occupants of the new high-performance roadster do not have to compromise on comfort and everyday usability. With its emphatically sporty, high-quality interior and its clearly tangible motorsport genes, the new SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S, limited to 150 units, is capable of delighting even the most discerning automotive enthusiasts.
With the McLaren SLR 722 S Roadster model variant, Mercedes-Benz is commemorating the historic victory in the Italian endurance classic Mille Miglia, which was won in 1955 by British racing legend Stirling Moss and his co-driver Dennis Jenkinson in the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the starting number 722. The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster 722 S continues the myth of the successful SLR racing models from the 1950s with innovative technology from racing.
The powerful heart of the McLaren SLR 722 S Roadster is a 5.5-liter supercharged V8 engine, which is assembled by hand at the Mercedes-AMG engine factory in Affalterbach. Extremely spontaneous response to accelerator pedal movements, high torque and the unmistakable V8 sound are among the particular strengths of the high-performance engine, which delivers 478 kW/ 650 hp and 820 Nm of torque, making power almost abundant (for comparison, SLR McLaren Roadster: 460 kW/ 626 hp, 780 Nm). The new model variant thus satisfies the wishes of the most discerning customers for even greater sportiness combined with high everyday practicality.
The five-speed automatic transmission developed by Mercedes-Benz is also designed for high performance. It has been specially designed for very high torque and offers the driver the option of choosing between different shift characteristics. As a result, the Roadster achieves outstanding figures even in the high-end sports car segment: the SLR Roadster 722 S sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in a breathtaking 3.7 seconds; 200 km/h is reached in 10.6 seconds. The top speed is 335 km/h, setting a new record for production roadsters.
