Just a few years ago, we wouldn’t have believed that a mainstream automaker would sell a street-legal coupe with 840 horsepower. But Dodge is doing just that, and aptly names the car Demon.
As is often the case, tuning companies love to make already crazy things even crazier. So now Hennessey Performance Engineering has a Demon with 1,013 horsepower – at the rear wheels.
The car is called the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon HPE1200. The 1200 refers to the power produced at the crankshaft. Most of the increased power is achieved by replacing the standard 2.7-liter supercharger with a 4.5-liter unit. Hennessey also equips the Demon HPE1200 with new manifolds, fuel injectors and engine tuning. All told, the Demon now produces 1,013 horsepower at the rear axle.
