Dodge Challenger MOPAR Drag Pak SPecifications

U.S. manufacturers offer “turnkey” drag racers from the factory that can be entered as-is in National Hot Rod as well as Muscle Car Association (NHRA and NMCA) events.

General Motors, for example, offers the COPO Camaro. Its big counterpart for several years has been the Dodge Challenger with Drag Pak. Mopar, the tuning division of Fiat-Chrysler, equips a standard-spec Challenger bodyshell with a welded roll cage designed to withstand the stresses of a 7.5-second quarter-mile run. Also new is the suspension. Mopar equips the rear axle from Strange Engineering with an adjustable coilover suspension, four-link suspensions and anti-roll bar.

The wheelie bars, with which the rearing car supports itself on the asphalt as it drives off, and the mount for the brake parachute are integrated into the chassis and are part of the standard equipment. At the front, a special engine crossmember lowers the center of gravity and improves weight distribution. The suspension experts at Bilstein supply further components that can be used to adjust the track at the front.

As before, Mopar installs the 354cc supercharged Hemi-V8 in the Challenger Bug. So the engine has a smaller displacement than the street-legal Hellcat engine (5.8 instead of 6.2 liters), but arguably offers significantly more power. As is customary in these circles, the factory tuner is keeping exact figures to himself. But insiders are certain that the engine easily produces over 1,000 hp.

Mopar has built 50 completely race-ready examples of the naturally non-street legal 2021 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak and is now offering them for the equivalent of 120,000 Euros. But the factory tuner also offers aftermarket kits that drag racers can use at home to optimize their own Challenger with the new motorsport components.

First Chevrolet came up with the new COPO Camaro, then Mopar followed with the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak. Which of the two drag racers works better on the quarter mile can only be judged by the racers involved.
