Nissan Skyline GT-R Specifications

The real Skyline GT-R

The roots of the Nissan Skyline GT-R go back to 1969, when Nissan introduced the Skyline 2000 as the “2000 GT-R” sports version. At the time, the Japanese car, which is powered by an inline six-cylinder, produces 160 hp and weighs just 1,100 kilograms, was Nissan’s reaction to American muscle cars.

Nissan in-house tuner Nismo took on the GT-R R34 to mark the company’s 20th anniversary. The twin-turbocharged RB26DETT 2.6-liter inline-six engine was blown up to over 500 hp through extensive modifications. In this variant, called the Nismo GT-R Z-Tune and limited to 20 vehicles, the sumo wrestler sprints to 100 km/h in under five seconds despite a slight turbo lag and reaches a top speed of just over 300km/h. The R34 GT-R model, including all special editions, was sold just over 11,000 times.

The all-wheel drive system ATTESA (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All) works electronically controlled and variable. In normal operation, 100% of the engine’s power is transmitted to the rear wheels. Only when oversteering does the system send up to 50% of the power to the front axle. This technology ensures the enormous lateral acceleration and high cornering speeds of the Japanese sports car, which make Porsche drivers jealous.
