The Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder is the CSR2 Prestige Cup Car of Season 89. The 4 yellow star Porsche is one of the faster cars in Tier 3.
Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder Specifications
The real Spyder
The Boxster Spyder is basically a more opulent convertible version of the 718 Cayman GT4. Its 4.0-liter flat-six cylinder therefore has the same 414 hp, the suspension is just as robust and identical to that of the coupe, and there is even a rear diffuser to ensure the right downforce. The first Boxster to offer this.
While on paper the engine may look as if it had parachuted off the Porsche 911 GT3 and Speedster, it is in reality a modified version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine of the very latest “normal” 911s. The turbos were stored, the cubic capacity was bored out and even a cylinder shut-off was incorporated. It operates exclusively via a six-speed manual transmission.
This is a different kind of engine for a Porsche Motorsport Special; anyone who has ever experienced the joyfully undefined slow-driving manners of a 911 R will feel like they are in an S-Class here. It is smooth, polite and absolutely professional. Its red line is 8,000 revolutions per minute.
It’s fast – 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds, 187 mph top speed – but actually not faster than a normal Boxster, since the Spyder weighs even more at 1,495 kg.
