To mark the world speed record for open-top production sports cars, Bugatti showed the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse as a limited WRC Edition at the Shanghai Motor Show 2013.
Black, orange and damn fast – that’s about how the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse WRC Edition can be aptly described. Because after the sixteen-cylinder super sports car set a new world speed record for open-top production sports cars on April 6, 2013 with a whopping 408.84 km/h, Bugatti is now showing a special edition at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show to mark the very same occasion.
Like the record-breaking car, the WRC Edition also features a special bicolor paint finish in black and orange and is, of course, strictly limited: only eight of the special model were available. However, if you think of discounts and favorable financing when you hear the term, you won’t get far with the sports car manufacturer from Molsheim in Alsace: the WRC-Veyron was to cost 1.99 million euros, plus 19 percent VAT.
In return, however, the owner got an 8-liter W16 engine with an equally record-breaking 1200 hp and 1,500 Nm of torque. Whether the exclusive clientele will venture into such dizzying speed spheres with the WRC car remains questionable, however. But you could if you wanted to – and that’s actually enough.
