BMW M2 G87 Coupe Specifications

The real BMW M2 Coupe

Priced from 72,800 euros (as of October 2022), the BMW M2 Number 2 will go into series production in April 2023. M GmbH has given its entry-level sports car flared fenders, a sporty, angular front end and a surprisingly geometric, horizontal kidney – a clear distinction from the “normal” 2 Series and the M3 and M4. In keeping with this, the rear also impresses with sharp-edged lines. Despite its increased dimensions (4580 mm long, 1887 mm wide, 1403 mm high), it is not too far behind the M4 Coupé by 214 millimeters in length.

Like its bigger and more powerful brothers, the BMW M2 (2023) is based on the CLAR platform, which is shortened for the compact. This means that BMW fans can look forward to a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive. Power peaks at 460 hp (338 kW), maximum torque at 550 Newton meters. In addition to an eight-speed automatic, BMW also offers a six-speed manual transmission. The exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps provides the appropriate soundscape.

With M-typical attributes such as a short wheelbase, high torsional rigidity and an axle load distribution of 50:50, the BMW M2 (2023) should also shine on the racetrack. An Active M differential in the rear-axle transmission, an adaptive M chassis with electronically controlled shock absorbers and M-specific variable-ratio steering all contribute to this as standard.

A six-piston fixed caliper at the front and a single-piston fist caliper at the rear provide negative deceleration. The braking system sits behind alloy wheels that measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear.

The standard M Drive Professional, including traction control, can be used to regulate wheel slip. Direct access to the settings for the engine, chassis, steering, brakes and traction control is via a setup button in the cockpit. There, drivers:inside will also find a 12.3-inch display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen that provides access to numerous M-specific vehicle information. The BMW M2 (2023) can also be optionally equipped with an M Race Track package. The roof and bucket seats are then made of carbon. The M Driver Package increases the top speed from 250 to 285 km/h and supplies matching track tires.
