The Veilside RX-8 VSD1 GT kit is one of the most eye-catching RX-8 designs available. This particular car is world famous for being the car of the female lead in Fast Furious 3 Tokyo Drift.
This car is probably the world’s most famous modified RX-8 currently for sale. This Veilside body kit was designed by Veilside’s chief designer – Hironao Yokomaku. Newera’s collaboration with Veilside began when the Fortune RX-7 was styled, a car we fell in love with from the first time we saw the clay model Yokomaku San created in his workshop…! After an exclusive interview, Newera sent the very first Fortune RX-7 show car to the Paris Tuning Show – and then back to Japan.
Later, through the development of the Veilside business, Newera Imports became involved in supplying Japanese cars for the third film, Tokyo Drift, and established a direct link between Universal Studios, Hollywood and Japan’s leading tuners to develop special cars for the film. The car offered here is the only surviving real RX-8 built by Veilside and sent to Hollywood for filming in 2005-2006. As our “Fast, East Extreme” DVD at www.neweramedia.com shows, Veilside’s Yokomaku San is no stranger to tuning cars for performance, having been one of the Japanese pioneers of GT-Rs and Supras in the 1990s that hit 8 seconds in the quarter mile.
The Veilside VSD1-GT Mazda RX-8 belongs to the female lead of Neila (Nathalie Kelly), one of the hottest new actresses on the Hollywood scene. The RX-8 was shot at the beginning of the film in the parking lot where the first drifting scenes took place, and later drifted on a mountain road during a joyride. The full documentation of the trip to and from the US for the filming is kept on file – for one lucky owner to keep as proof of his investment is 100% genuine.
This Veilside D1GT RX-8 design is not as wild as the other two Veilside cars that appeared in Tokyo Drift (Veilside 350Z Fortune RX-7), but remains a very cool design that complements the trio of cars that appeared in the film. It is without a doubt the 3rd best looking Japanese car in the film, had surprisingly – as it was also styled by Hironao Yokomaku. This kit was actually developed by Veilside for the professional D1 competition, hence the name.
