Ultima RS Specifications
Real life RS
A power-to-weight ratio of 0.76 kg/hp guarantees top acceleration values and the very best driving dynamics.
The Ultima Ratio, i.e. the last suitable option, in the conflict between the hypercar suppliers seems to be more power. Or more precisely: maximum engine power. Four-digit power figures are no longer the exception, but the rule. The Ultima Sports is a keen participant in this performance arms race; the Ultima Evolution presented in 2015 already produced 1,030 hp. Now the British small-batch manufacturer has found some more power and is giving its new Ultima RS model up to 1,217 hp.
Ultima uses engines from the General Motors shelf in its sports cars. More precisely: the 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engines from the LT family. This is also the case in the RS, whose base model has the naturally aspirated LT1 V8 engine familiar from the Corvette C7 and produces 487 hp. Power stage two means 659 hp, generated by the LT4 supercharged V8 used in the Corvette C7 Z06, the Cadillac CTS-V and the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, for example.
However, if you want to go really high in terms of performance, you need the Ultima RS with the LT5 engine, which is nothing more than an LT4 powerplant with a larger supercharger and does duty in the Corvette ZR1. In the RS, Ultima Sports brings the powerplant up to 811 horsepower or – after the appropriate tuning measures have been taken – up to 1,217 horsepower.
In this configuration, the hypercar is said to accelerate from zero to 60 mph (96.6 km/h) in just 2.3 seconds and complete the quarter-mile standing start in 9.2 seconds. Ultima Sports quotes a top speed of more than 402 mph, though the gear ratio limits propulsion. Incidentally, the manual six-speed gearshift comes from Porsche, but has been supplemented with a shortened shift travel.
