With the XE SV Project 8, Jaguar has built a crazy car that also costs an outrageous 182,000 Euros. The reason for this is the conversion that the department for “Special Vehicles” has given it.
In days of manual work, Jaguar has turned the car into a race car that can compete with any sports car.
At the heart of it all is the largest and most powerful engine the British have on their shelve. A five-litre V8 petrol engine with a compressor producing 441 kW/600 hp. This is almost twice as much power as the currently most powerful XE. It makes the special series the most powerful road car in the brand’s history to date.
Tediously squeezed into the specially widened body and ventilated through a huge cooling opening, the engine mobilises up to 700 Nm. It takes just 3.7 seconds for the speedometer to show 100 km/h, and only at 322 km/h does it stop. Competitors like the BMW M3 or the Mercedes-AMG C63 have already disappeared in the rear-view mirror.
Of course a car like the XE SV Project 8 is hopelessly unreasonable – especially when you look at the price. And whoever has got the money together will be sad if he didn’t make it into the top 300 buyers. Besides, Jaguar had apparently already had the brexite in mind for this car – and gave a clear vote against leaving Europe: As the first car in the history of the brand, this XE is available in left-hand drive only.
