Pagani Huayra R Specifications

The real Pagani Huayra R

Every year, Horacia Pagani launches a new sports car. In 2021, it’s that time again: The Huayra R impresses not only with its 850 hp naturally aspirated V12 engine.

Those familiar with the Italian sports car manufacturer’s models will rightly wonder how the Huayra R, priced at 2.6 million euros before taxes, is even going to top its numerous predecessors. Let’s start with the design, which cites legendary racing cars of the 1960s and 1970s and is thus Pagani through and through: there are no compromises, every line follows optimal aerodynamics. Despite the body, which at first glance appears to be expansive, the Huayra R weighs a mere 1050 kilograms when dry.

The secret is consistent lightweight construction: The monocoque is made of carbon composites. A chrome-molybdenum steel alloy subframe joins the front and rear. The rear one is directly connected to the engine and transmission. The 6.0-liter V12 unit, which weighs just 198 kilograms, is thus an elementary component of the vehicle structure. The engine, developed by AMG specialist HWA and simply christened the Pagani V12-R, dispenses with electric assistance and any turbocharging.

Sucking freely, it unleashes 850 hp at 8250 revolutions. 750 Newton meters of maximum torque are available between 5500 and 8300 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheels of the Huayra R via a sequential, non-synchronized six-speed transmission.
