Lamborghini Murcielago Specifications

Real life Murcielago

The Lamborghini Murciélago is a sports car of the car manufacturer Lamborghini, which was presented at the IAA 2001 in Frankfurt. Lamborghini produced 4099 units between 2001 and 2010.

The name Murciélago (Bat) comes from the fighting bull of the same name, bred by Joaquín del Val de Navarra, who in 1879 in the Cordoba Arena fought a particularly outstanding battle against the matador Rafael Molina Sánchez, whereupon the public demanded that the latter renounce the death blow, which he did.

The Lamborghini Murciélago is a four-wheel drive mid-engine sports car. With an angular design and an exceptionally low-slung body, the highest point of the roof is almost 1.2 meters above the ground. One of the most characteristic features of the vehicle are the scissor doors, which give the vehicle an extreme image. A V12 engine powered the first generation of the Murciélago. The roots of the V12 engine go back to the company’s beginnings in the 1960s.

The rear differential is integrated into the engine itself, with a center differential with viscous clutch transmitting power to the front wheels. The overall power distribution is 70 percent rear and 30 percent front. Power is transmitted via a 6-speed manual transmission. The car’s suspension is an independent double wishbone design, and the body is largely made of carbon fiber except for the steel roof and aluminum scissor doors.

The 6,192 cc V12 engine installed in the first generation cars produced a maximum output of 580 hp at 7,500 rpm and a torque of 650 Nm at 5,400 rpm, accelerating the car from a standing start to 100 km/h in 3. 3 seconds and further to a top speed of 330 km/h.
