The real Ford
Between the normal Mustang and the Shelby variants the Ford Mustang Mach 1 may make riot starting from spring 2021. The name will be quite familiar to fans: Already from 1969 to 1978 and again in 2004, especially fast Ford Mustang carried him.
Ford Performance is giving the coupé a good shot of sportiness in the new edition. Ford has created large round bulges in the radiator grille, where auxiliary headlights were hidden five decades ago at Mach 1. The emblazoned Logo between the rear lights finally identifies the Mustang as a Mach 1.
The optical changes on the Mach 1 (2021) also benefit aerodynamics in many ways: The new air intakes improve the air flow, in addition, a new underbody and not least the diffuser of the Shelby GT500 provides better downforce. The new Mach 1 generates 22 percent more downforce than a Mustang GT.
Under the hood is a 5.0-liter V8, which comes with all kinds of accessories from the Shelby GT350 in the European version to 460 hp. The engine in combination with the adapted and adjustable chassis including MagneRide shock absorbers makes the Mustang Mach 1 the most powerful Mustang on the European continent.
Depending on preference, the power is provided by a ten-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. The latter is equipped for the first time with an intermediate throttle function so that the driver can hammer the white shift knob through the shortened lanes even faster. A further highlight is the specially developed exhaust system with flap control: four 4.5-inch tailpipes play the V8 symphony with its strong character. 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires round off the Mach 1’s comprehensive performance package.
