The real Nissan GT-R50
Here you can see the car that Nissan wanted to show at the Geneva Motor Show 2020, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic it was not possible.
Under the radically redesigned bodywork is still more or less the same R35 that has been on the market since 2007. Including some minor interior changes and a completely new look. From the front bumper to the rear lights, almost everything has been changed.
Without a doubt we see a sharply cut supercar here.
At the front, LED headlights give the car a fresh look. The rear appears relatively naked, the most striking feature is certainly the large, adjustable rear wing. Italdesign designed the 21-inch especially for the GT-R50.
Compared to the exterior, the interior has been reworked rather discreetly. You will find a larger amount of carbon, leather and Alcantara than in the normal GT-R. You should at least expect these upgrades in an extremely high-priced special edition, but the GT-R can’t really hide its age in the interior anymore. After all, it has been on the market for a good 13 years …
Apart from the optical general overhaul, there have also been some mechanical changes. Under the hood, an evolution of the 3.8-litre biturbo V6 is used. For the GT-R50, Nismo has teased out a full 710 hp and 780 Nm, 110 hp and 128 Nm more than in the GT-R Nismo.
The extra punch required the installation of a reinforced six-speed dual-clutch transmission. In addition there are more powerful Brembo stoppers, a newly calibrated Bilstein adaptive suspension and Michelin Pilot Supersport tyres in 255/35 R21 at the front and 285/30 R21 at the rear.
